RTW: Calling All Side-Kicks!

Welcome to our 99th (omg!) Road Trip Wednesday!

Road Trip Wednesday is a ‘Blog Carnival,’ where YA Highway's contributors post a weekly writing- or reading-related question that begs to be answered. In the comments, you can hop from destination to destination and get everybody's unique take on the topic.

We'd love for you to participate! Just answer the prompt on your own blog and leave a link -- or, if you prefer, you can include your answer in the comments.

This week's topic:

What supporting character from a YA book would you most like to see star in their own novel?

Well. They took Ron from me, and now I have to think. Good grief.

I think that a character that is certainly deserving of his/her own story is...

Mogget from...

Mogget is a Free Magic creature, that we see as a white cat most of the time, who is "contained" by the Charter after the formation of the kingdom and the Charter. He's a very complex creature who serves the Abhorsen, and his parts in the Abhorsen books are always interesting. In a way, he's my favorite character.

This is what I think he looks like and what a wonderful fan drew. Marvelous work. I just love Mogget. I think that a story around him would be awesomesauce. Hear that, Garth Nix? I'd like that for my birthday. I think it's reasonable. Thanks.

  1. On his website, Garth Nix says "I’m unlikely to write another book in which Sabriel is the main character..." So, you never know! Have you visited his site? Looks quite interesting. He has a whole page on "How I Write" with pictures from his notepad. http://www.garthnix.com/. I might check some of his books out.

  2. Anything he writes is magical. It's like he's got the writing Midas touch. Le sigh. But I sort of figured he wouldn't write more about Sabriel. She only has one book to her name--although she cameos and plays bit parts in other books--and it seemed rather final to me. However, I stand by her. She's a great character.

I used to ask for proper grammar and such in comments. Now that I'm older, I realize it's still important, but that not everyone likes following the rules or even remembers the rules. Instead, let's just be kind.
